Vision Impairment
An assigned DRC specialist will work with each individual to determine which accommodations/services the student may need.
Commonly Used Accommodations
- Assistance with alternate formatted print material
- Notetaker
- Readers or scribes for exams
- Raised line drawings of diagrams, charts, illustrations, or maps
- Special classroom lighting or seating in the front of the class
- Extra time on exams
- Assistance in arranging accessible classrooms
- Assistance in arranging meetings in accessible location
- Consulation and recommendation to Housing Office for appropriate accommodation in residence halls
- Campus orientation
Required Documentation
- Clinical Summary Form completed by the student's treating clinician within the past six months of applying for services. If the vision impairment is likely to change, documentation must be updated annually from the appropriate licensed professional.
