ADHD/LD
Students with a diagnosis of a learning disability and/or an attention deficit disorder are encouraged to contact the DRC as soon as possible so that the DRC staff may guide them in submitting the appropriate documentation. The laws that apply to college differ from those that apply to K-12, so documentation that was acceptable to a high school may not be sufficient at the college level.
Basic services are available to all students with a documented learning disability or attention deficit. Students interested in a more comprehensive tutorial program may want to consider the Learning Disabilities Program, a fee-for-service program.
An assigned DRC specialist will work with each individual to determine which accommodations/services the student may need.
Commonly Used Accommodations
- Tape recording lectures
- Notetaker
- Extra time on exams
Required Documentation
A complete neuropsychological report that:
- is not more than 3 years old
- was conducted by a qualified examiner
- diagnoses a learning disability or attention deficit
- provides a rationale for accommodations based upon substantial limitation
