Notetaking
With appropriate documentation students may be eligible to receive notetaking services. Students must meet with their DRC specialist to determine if they are eligible for this accommodation as not all students receive notetaker services.
The information necessary to request a notetaker is available by clicking on the appropriate heading on your left. Should you have any questions, please contact the Coordinator of Notetaking Services at 617-373-3558.
Using a Notetaker
The Disability Resource Center has several policies and procedures involving the use of notetakers in class. In order to receive the best possible service it is important that you read the following carefully. If you have any questions or concerns, you should contact the Coordinator of Notetaking Services.
Procedures
Please inform the Coordinator of Notetaking Services if:
- you add, change, or drop a course
- you no longer need notes for a course
- the location of your class changes
- if you will be absent from class
- you do not receive your notes in a timely manner
- the quality of your notes is poor
- your notetaker is late to class or misses class
Policies
- Notetakers will receive the email address and/or phone number or pager number of the students they are assigned.
- All students are required to meet their notetaker(s) after they are assigned. Students will not receive notes until they meet their notetaker.
- You must attend class in order to receive notes. Students will not receive notes for classes from which they are absent. In addition, if a student is late to class or leaves early, s/he will receive only the notes taken while present.
- Having a notetaker in class does not relieve you of your responsibilty to be a full participant in the class. Unless it is a result of a documented disability, students who sleep in class will not receive notes.
- It is your responsibility to back up your notes on your computer.
