Using An Interpreter
Students must submit an Interpreter Request for Classes Form to the Disability Resource Center. On the form students may indicate interpreters they do or do not prefer. This information is confidential. The DRC tries to honor student preferences but cannot promise that students will always get the requested interpreter.
Student Responsibilities
- Inform a Disability Specialist of the locations of all classes.
- Inform a Disability Specialist of any schedule changes including location changes, add/drops, field trips, one-time cancellations, etc.
- Contact the Lead Interpreter for concerns about the quality of the interpreting.
- For final exams fill out a separate Interpreter Request Form.
- Fill out a confidential Evaluation Form at the end of each term for each ongoing classroom interpreter.
Interpreters will wait 20 minutes for a 65-minute class or 40 minutes for any class longer than 65 minutes for students who are late and then the interpreters will leave.
