Using a CART Reporter
With appropriate documentation students may be eligible to receive CART services. Students must meet with a Disability Specialist to determine if they are eligible for this accommodation.
Students must submit a CART Request for Classes Form to the Disability Resource Center. On the form students may indicate CART reporters they do or do not prefer. This information is confidential. The DRC tries to honor student preferences but cannot promise that students will always get the requested CART reporter.
Student Responsibilities
- Inform a Disability Specialist of the locations of all classes.
- Inform a Disability Specialist of any schedule changes including location changes, add/drops, field trips, one-time cancellations, etc.
- Contact the Lead Interpreter for concerns about the quality of the CART reporting.
- For final exams fill out a separate CART Request Form.
- Fill out a confidential Evaluation Form at the end of each term for each ongoing classroom CART provider.
CART reporters will wait 20 minutes for a 65-minute class or 40 minutes for any class longer than 65 minutes for students who are late and then the CART reporters will leave.
