Register with the DRC
Students needing accommodations must register with the DRC and open a file. Students are encouraged to submit documentation at least three months prior to arriving on campus.
Documentation must conform to established standards of acceptability in order to be eligible to receive services and accommodations. Please be advised that IEPs and 504 plans are not adequate documentation.
Please note the important information below that has been provided to ensure that students new to Northeastern University can be registered and supported from the beginning of their first term at the University:
Steps:
- Documentation: The DRC needs current documentation of a substantially limiting disability in order to determine appropriate accommodations. Documentation should be submitted to the DRC and not the Admissions Office. For more information, please read documentation information.
- All documentation submitted to the DRC is reviewd by the Documentation Review Committee. Because of the large volume of documentation received by the DRC it is strongly advised that the student's documentation be submitted early as the review process can take up to three months.
- Once the documentation has been reviewed and approved the DRC will contact the student to set up a mandatory intake meeting. At this meeting, the student and their assigned DRC specialist will determine what accomodations/services are appropriate and review the process for accessing services. This meeting takes approximately one hour.
- DEADLINE for REQUESTING FINAL EXAM ACCOMMODATION : In order for there to be enough time to put services in to place for final exams/projects, students must register no later than 4 weeks prior to the end of that academic term. Students who register after this deadline will have services start at the beginning of the following term.
